AEG Makes NFL Demands

The Los Angeles City Council’s Trade, Commerce and Tourism Committee held the first public hearings regarding AEG’s proposed NFL stadium Jan. 19.

That included AEG President Tim Leiweke’s first public presentation on the project. His boss, billionaire Philip Anschutz, has said he will finance the stadium if four conditions are met: A National Football League team must commit to move to the City of Angels; the NFL must approve an L.A. team; city officials must quickly approve $350 million in bonds; and agreements must be reached with a naming rights sponsor, among other sponsors.

Meanwhile, the Chargers have committed themselves to San Diego and the team says it will not exercise its exit clause in 2011.
