All Eternals Deck is set for release March 29 on Merge Records. The indie rock band recorded the album at four different studios with four different producers including Hate Eternal frontman Erik Rutan.

Last month Mountain Goats frontman John Darnielle posted a few hints on the band’s website about what fans can expect from the 13 new tunes.

“If you have ever watched say a 70s occult-scare movie where one of the scenes involves a couple of people visiting a storefront fortune teller, getting their cards read, and then trying to feel super-hopeful about what they hear when what they’re visibly actually feeling is dread, then you have a pretty decent idea of what the album is all about. If you know the feeling of exultation that comes with having recognized the oncoming train of fate, then that’s the other thing the album’s about.”

“Damn These Vampires,” the first track from All Eternals Deck, is available to download through Stereogum.com.

The Mountain Goats’ 2011 tour kicks off March 24 at The National in Richmond, with dates booked through an April 15 gig at Theatre Of The Living Arts in Philadelphia.

Additional shows include 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. (March 25), Bowery Ballroom in New York (March 28-29), Vic Theatre in Chicago (April 5), Variety Playhouse in Atlanta (April 7) and Mr. Small’s Theatre in Pittsburgh (April 12).

Megafaun will open all dates excluding an April 8 show in Carrboro, N.C.

Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning tomorrow, Jan. 21.

The band promises that more tour dates will be announced soon.
