Chesney Adds Second Gillette Stadium Date

The economy may be ailin’ but that didn’t stop Kenny Chesney fans from scooping up all the tickets for the country star’s appearance at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., not only resulting in a second show being added but also marking a new end-date for this year’s tour.

Chesney was supposed to end his “Goin’ Coastal” tour Aug. 27 at the stadium. Now the new closing date is Aug. 28, same stadium, same Massachusetts town.

“The last show of every year has always been special,” Chesney said. “A unique shared moment and connection with the fans celebrating a summer full of music. I can’t think of a better place than playing two nights at Gillette Stadium to close this year’s tour! I really missed playing Foxboro last summer and I can’t wait to reconnect with everyone in New England!”

Chesney’s people say the Aug. 27 date sold out in eight minutes. Based on past concerts at the venue when the reported capacity was approximately 57,000, that works out to Chesney selling about 7100 tickets every 60 seconds.

With only 12 dates of the upcoming tour presented by Corona on sale, Chesney has already sold more than 400,000 tickets. The new Gillette date is the 11th stadium date for the tour, which also features Zac Brown Band and special guests Billy Currington and Uncle Kracker.
