TM Takes Over Pollin Franchises

Ticketmaster announced Jan. 27 it will assume operations of the TM franchises in Maryland, northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

The franchises were originally owned by the late Abe Pollin, one of the most influential figures of professional sports, having owned the Washington Wizards NBA team for a record 45 years.

Ownership of the franchises shifted to Monumental Sports & Entertainment, founded by Ted Leonsis, which owns and operates the Wizards, Washington Capitals, and Washington Mystics and also owns D.C.’s Verizon Center.

Monumental merged Lincoln Holdings and Washington Sports & Entertainment in June 10.

Ticketmaster CEO Nathan Hubbard noted this “closes a chapter for us with our U.S. franchises.”
