Roger Daltrey + ‘Tommy’ At Teenage Cancer Trust Benefit

The 2011 benefit takes place March 21-27 at Royal Albert Hall in London.

The Teenage Cancer Trust is an organization in the United Kingdom that provides support, research and education for teenagers diagnosed with cancer. The Trust also funds and builds specialist units in hospitals to bring together teenagers fighting cancer so they can encourage one another in an environment with patients their own age rather than being treated in an adult ward.

“These gigs have raised nearly £10 million in 10 years,” says longstanding Teenage Cancer Trust patron Roger Daltrey CBE. “They make a real difference to the lives of thousands of young people with cancer. We’ve had both legends and rising stars play for Teenage Cancer Trust over the years and 2011 is no different. I’m truly grateful to everyone for their support.”

This year’s series begins March 21 with an evening of comedy featuring John Bishop, Kevin Bridges and Greg Davies.

Squeeze takes over the stage the next night, joined by an 18-piece orchestra. March 22’s show also features The Feeling as special guests.

Biffy Clyro returns to the series on March 23 after previously playing the benefit in 2006.

In addition to perform Tommy on March 24 Daltrey will also play early hits including material from 1970’s Live at Leeds.

Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher will show off his new band Beady Eye with a March 25 performance. Beady Eye also features former Oasis guitarist Gem Archer and bassist Andy Bell, along with drummer Chris Sharrock. Oasis previously took part in 2002’s Teenage Cancer Trust Benefit.

Editors headline March 26, and rapper Tinie Tempah closes out the 2011 series on March 27.
