Silverdome Scores Ag Show

The Pontiac Silverdome near Detroit has scored a new event that could fill a void from the cancellation of the Michigan State Fair.

The Great Lakes Agricultural Fair is slated for Sept. 2-5 at the venue and will feature concerts, agricultural competitions and exhibits, rides and animals.

The 90,000-capacity Silverdome, which previously housed the NFL’s Detroit Lions after opening at a cost of $55.7 million, was purchased from the city by a Canadian investment group in 2009 for $583,000. The venue has hosted few events in the time since.
