Rihanna Taps Cee-Lo For Summer Tour
Heck, they’re going to need another bus if they insist on bringing all those Grammy awards out on the road. Rihanna, who won two Grammys in 2010 for appearing on Jay-Z’s “Run This Town,” picked up the award for best dance record Feb. 13 for “Only Girl In The World” while Green got his own golden gramophone when his “Forget You” was selected as best urban/alternative performance.
Having already announced the tour in support of her Loud album, today’s announcement brings ten new dates, including several Canada shows – June 10 in Montreal at the Bell Centre; June 18 in Winnipeg at the MTS Center; June 19 in Saskatoon at the Credit Union Centre; June 21 in Calgary at Scotiabank Saddledome, June 22 in Edmonton at Rexall Place and June 24 in Vancouver at Rogers Arena.
New U.S. dates on the routing are July 4 in New Mexico at Hard Rock Casino Albuquerque Presents The Pavilion; July 8 in Dallas at American Airlines Arena; July 9 in Houston at Toyota Center and July 24 in Boston at TD Garden.
Previously announced dates include the June 4 tour opener at Baltimore’s 1st Mariner Arena.
Of course, Rihanna and Green are in each other’s admiration corners and issued statements to prove it.
“I’m a huge fan of Cee-Lo since his days with Goodie Mob and with Gnarls Barkley,” Rihanna said. “He’s a musical genius, continually reinventing himself and I’m thrilled to have him join me on tour.”
“I want to thank Rihanna for inviting me on our version of ‘50 First Dates,’ only difference is she’s unforgettable fine,” Green said. “Don’t tell her I have a crush on her, don’t wanna mess everything up. But honestly it’s an honor and a blessing to be able to go out with a talent such as hers and I look forward to doing my part to make the tour unforgettable for the fans that come out and see us.”
