It’s Time For World Party

World Party returns to the U.S, playing a series of shows plus a couple of NYC gigs.

The year 2011 is kind of special for the band founded in 1986 by Karl Wallinger after he exited The Waterboys. If you did the math then you’re probably a half step ahead of us. That’s right, this year marks World Party’s 25th anniversary.

The band is celebrating the temporal benchmark with a multi-CD collection to be released this spring on Wallinger’s Seaview Records featuring unreleased studio tracks, and live recordings. Preceding the release will be a new song from the band, so be on the look out.

The short list of U.S. World Party dates begins with three SXSW shows with the first gig taking place at Austin’s Speakeasy March 18 as part of the Fontana day party. Later that same day World Party plays Auditorium Shores and on March 19 takes part in the KUT day party at the Cactus Café.

New York City is next with World Party playing March 22-23 at Joe’s Pub.

All shows are with a full band. For more information, including ticket details, visit WorldParty.net.
