STS9 Back On The Road

We’ve got some good news for STS9 fans. Less than a month after revealing that David Murphy had been diagnosed with cancer, the instrumental rock group now says that the bassist’s recovery is going so well that STS9 is ready to start touring again.

In late January Murphy released a statement explaining that a cancerous tumor was recently diagnosed in his sinus cavity. With the exception of STS9’s appearance at the Mayan Holidaze cruise, all of the rest of the band’s scheduled performances were canceled. The shows would have taken place throughout the U.S. Feb. 4-March 11.

After posting an initial update following Murphy’s Jan. 26 surgery, STS9 released an additional statement this week saying that the bassist’s “recovery has been nothing short of amazing, inspiring and impassioned.”

The band has lined up a series of multiple night gigs in April, playing Classic Center in Athens, Ga., April 20-21 and The Pageant in St. Louis April 22-23.
