Paul Rodgers Sets U.K. Solo Run

Paul Rodgers’ April solo tour of the United Kingdom is not for the mellow at heart. Not with Jason Bonham on drums.

The Black Country Communion drummer who received critical raves for his recently completed Led Zeppelin Experience Tour will join Rodgers on a 10-city tour beginning April 15 at the Blackpool Opera House. Also appearing in Rodgers’ band will be guitarist Howard Leese and Lynn Sorenson on bass.

Other dates on the tour include April 16 at Sheffield City Hall, April 18 in Newcastle Upon Tyne at the Metro Radio Arena; April 19 in Glasgow at Clyde Auditorium; April 24 at the Bournemouth International Centre; April 27 at London’s Royal Albert Hall and April 28 at the Birmingham NIA.

Rodgers also expects a few special guests to join him on select dates. Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott and his band Down ‘N Outz will join him in Newcastle and Joe Perry will appear on the Royal Albert date, a reminder that Rodgers and Bonham recently performed with the Aerosmith guitar slinger at a benefit show in Los Angeles. In fact, it was that performance that resulted in Rodgers asking Bonham to join him on the U.K. tour.

The new solo tour represents yet another side of Rodgers following successful outings with Bad Company and Queen.

“Playing with Queen was brilliant, they interpreted my songs on an entire new level,” Rodgers said. “With Bad Company the musical fireworks were still there but creating and touring solo is where my heart is.”
