Is Michael Jackson Alive?
Scheduled for a direct-to-video release March 1, “Alive! Is Michael Jackson Really Dead” claims to raise important issues regarding the events of June 25, 2009, including a claim that a photo of Jackson in an ambulance was faked and that the Moonwalker wrote a note one month before his death saying “See you in July 2011.”
As with many conspiracy theories, the film tries to connect disparate dots as possible proof that something wasn’t exactly on the level when Jackson died.
For example, a press release recently issued by the film’s producer, Elbow Grease Productions, suggests a connection between the high-definition filming of Jackson’s dress rehearsals for his O2 London residency with Regal Entertainment Group, the largest movie theater chain in the country and owned partly by AEG founder Philip Anschutz.
In other words, filming the rehearsals for a series of shows that would have taken place at an AEG venue (The O2 in London) and then turning the footage into a concert film shown in Regal movie houses is possible proof that Jackson faked his death. Or so the film suggests.
“Conspiracy theories offer simple explanations for simple minds,” goes an old saying. Since “Alive! Is Michael Jackson Really Dead?” is being released directly to video, we’d like to mention another well-worn saying – caveat emptor – “Let the buyer beware.”
