Johnnie Johnson Fest Moves

The annual Johnnie Johnson Blues and Jazz Festival in West Virginia will celebrate its 10th anniversary at a new location.

The event, scheduled for July 15-17, will take place at Heston Farms and Winery in Pleasant Valley. It previously was held in Johnson’s hometown of Fairmont.

Johnson, reportedly considered the father of rock piano, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and is said to be the inspiration for Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode.” Johnson died in 2005.
