In November the rock band revealed the hiatus was off by booking a series of European headline gigs and festival appearances. The group last played together in August 2006 at Ozzfest in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The North American headline shows take place before the summer European tour, kicking off May 10 in Edmonton, Alberta at Rexall Place. The group has booked another Canadian gig with a May 12 show at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena.

U.S. shows are scheduled between a May 13 show at KeyArena At Seattle Center and May 22 gig at Las Vegas’ Pearl Concert Theater.

System Of A Down will also be making stops in Mountain View, Calif. (May 15); Englewood, Colo. (May 18); and Albuquerque, N.M. (May 19).

Gogol Bordello will be joining the band on the North American tour as its special guest.

System Of A Down encourages fans to stay tuned to the official band website for more touring news. The site refers to the newly announced shows as “the first group of dates” so it sounds like a second batch of gigs is coming soon.

Tickets to the North American shows go on sale Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5.

The European shows are booked June 2 through June 19.
