Yes, it’s travel time for the band that’s been called everything from alt-rock to thrash-funk to psychedelic polka. But no matter how you prefer to classify the definitely unclassifiable Primus, you’ll be pleased to know the band is launching a short tour beginning in Indianapolis at the Murat Theatre May 19 and wrapping at the Bonnaroo Music Festival June 10.

Dates include May 20 in Memphis at Minglewood Hall; May 21 in Gulf Shores, Ala., at the Hangout Festival; May 23 at Houston’s Verizon Wireless Theatre; May 24 in Austin at Stubb’s; May 29 in St. Louis at The Pageant; June 4 at Fillmore Miami Beach @ Jackie Gleason Theater and June 9 in Charleston at the Performing Arts Center.

Meanwhile, the band is working on its first full-length album of new material since 1999’s Antipop. Expect the effort which, so far has no name, to be released on ATO/Prawn Song Records sometime in late spring/early summer.
