CKX Reports 2010 Loss

CKX, the company that owns the “American Idol” franchise and a majority of Elvis Presley Enterprises, saw its revenue slide $54.6 million and OIBDAN drop $32.5 million to $35 million in 2010, according to a company statement.

CKX reported an operating loss of $11.7 million compared with operating income of $44.2 million in 2009.

Losses reflected a restructuring of the company, and a loss of $46.9 million in revenue from “So You Think Can Dance,” which had an additional broadcast season in 2009.

The company also reported it has reduced its general and administrative expenses at 19 Entertainment by approximately $20 million on an annual basis. Revenue at Elvis Presley Enterprise decreased $3.3 million in 2010.
