Prince Going To The Carolinas

Prince’s “Welcome 2 America” tour is headed back to the East Coast for a number of shows in the Carolinas.

The “Welcome 2 America” tour began in December with two performances in New Jersey followed by a four-night residency at Madison Square Garden Arena in New York. Last month the Purple One took his show to the West Coast for three gigs at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.

The new dates begin March 21 at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, S.C. Additional South Carolina shows include performances at Bi-Lo Center in Greenville (March 28) and North Charleston Coliseum (March 30).

North Carolina gigs include stops at RBC Center in Raleigh (March 23), Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte (March 24) and Greensboro Coliseum (March 26).

When Prince initially announced details about the “Welcome 2 America” tour in October he said he would “serve as master of ceremonies for multiple nights of entertainment that will feature some of the best artists this country has to offer.”

The singer’s previous “Welcome 2 America” East Coast shows featured performances from Prince and his band, the New Power Generation, along with Sheila E., Larry Graham & Graham Central Station, Esperanza Spalding, Maceo Parker, Cassandra Wilson, Janelle Monáe and Mint Condition.

A guest list for the Carolinas dates hasn’t been announced yet.

Tickets for select Carolina shows go on sale March 14. Additional dates go on sale March 15.
