Duran Duran To Stream L.A. Gig
Not only is the band kicking off the second year of “Unstaged: An Original Series From American Express” with its Mayan show, but the performance will be streamed live at 10 p.m. Pacific Time that evening, courtesy of the credit card company in partnership with VEVO and YouTube.
But here’s the kicker. David Lynch, the man known for directing dreamlike and bizarre flicks such as “Erasurehead,” “The Elephant Man” and “Blue Velvet” as well as creating TV’s “Twin Peaks,” will be the man directing the stream, blending the visual with the audio to provide one of the more unique online concert experiences of the year.
“We are all beyond delighted that David Lynch has agreed to direct this show for us,” Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon said. “We are all such fans of his work and think he has a creative vision like no other. In talking to him about what he is planning, we all believe this live-streamed performance is going to look nothing like anyone has ever seen before. We can’t wait.”
The stream will also be an interactive experience with fans having the ability to switch between the director’s main stream and alternate views. Other features include the “All Of Us Now” project consisting of the worldwide audience submitting photos that Lynch will showcase in surreal displays throughout the evening and a “Tweet The Band” opportunity which pretty much functions as the name implies.
But you gotta watch the stream March 23 in order to participate. Click here for more information.
