Ryan Adams Back On The Road

Last week Jennifer Lopez admitted that she didn’t know who Ryan Adams was after an “American Idol” contestant performed the alt-country singer’s tune “Come Pick Me Up.” Now J.Lo will have a chance to check out Adams’ live show because he’s announced his first tour in two years.

In January 2009 Adams told fans via a blog post that his March 20, 2009 show in Atlanta would be his last with his backing band The Cardinals.

Since then he’s taken a hiatus from touring, with the exception of an October 2010 benefit show. Last year he also released two albums – the heavy metal Orion and Cardinals III/IV with The Cardinals. Both albums were put out by PAX AM, the label Adams founded in 2004, with Orion released exclusively on vinyl.

Adams is returning to the stage with a dozen dates in Europe this summer.

“I wrote some new tunes this winter on my acoustic guitar,” he wrote on his Facebook page. “I think I’d like to play them for whoever wants to hear them. Please don’t yell at me.”

The trek begins June 10 with a gig at Cirkus in Stockholm, Sweden. Dates are on the books through a June 28 show at Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Additional stops include Malmo, Sweden (June 13); Copenhagan, Denmark (June 14); Lisbon, Portugal (June 16); London (June 20); Manchester, United Kingdom (June 23); and Oxford, United Kingdom (June 26).

Tickets are on sale now.
