Elvis Costello Cancellations

Elvis Costello won’t be headed to Mexico and South America next month after all.

The singer-songwriter broke the news to fans with a post on his official website earlier this week.

“To all our fans and friends in Mexico and South America we regret to announce that due to circumstances beyond our control we have had to cancel our tour scheduled for early April. We hope to be able to reschedule and return in the near future!”

The shows would have included performances at Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil (April 5); Citibank Hall Rio in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil (April 6); and Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile (April 10).

Costello’s next shows on the books include a number of Australian gigs scheduled April 17-26. The trek down under includes a performance at West Coast Blues & Roots Festival in Fremantle (April 17) and sets at Bluesfest in Tyagarah (April 25-26).

His 2011 North American tour kicks off May 7 in Reno, Nevada, with headline dates scheduled through a July 20 performance in Glen Allen, Va.

Fans can also catch Costello at Rochester International Jazz Festival in Rochester, N.Y. (June 17) and at Gathering Of The Vibes in Bridgeport, Conn. (July 23).

In November Costello has lined up a few shows in Europe including performances in Groningen, Netherlands (Nov. 8); Amsterdam, Netherlands (Nov. 10); and Oslo, Norway (Nov. 12).
