Ray Davies’ Meltdown Festival Lineup
The event takes place June 10-19 at Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.
In addition to curating the lineup, Davies will perform both the opening and closing nights of the festival at Royal Festival Hall. On June 10 he will take to the stage with his band and on June 19 Davies performs with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Crouch End Festival Chorus.
The Royal Festival Hall lineup include Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band (June 11), Yo La Tengo (June 12), Nick Lowe & special guests (June 15), Madness (June 17) and The Sonics & Wire (June 18).
Queen Elizabeth Hall performances include The Crazy World of Arthur Brown & Legendary Pink Dots (June 10), Roger McGough & special guests (June 10), The Fugs (June 11), Terry Jones & Michael Palin in Conversation (June 13) and
The venue has also lined up John Cooper Clarke, John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett (June 15); London Sinfonietta: Birtwistle & Maxwell Davies (June 16); A Tribute to Tony Wilson (June 16); Ben Waters: Boogie4Stu (June 17); Peter Asher: A Musical Memoir of the Sixties and Beyond (June 18) and Lydia Lunch: Big Sexy Noise (June 18).
This year’s edition of Meltdown will also include a recreation of the ‘60s rock/pop TV show “Ready Steady Go!” According to The Guardian, the recreation will feature acts chosen by Vicki Wickham, the original TV producer of the U.K. show and Dusty Springfield’s manager.
Past Meltdown directors have included David Bowie, Morrissey, John Peel, Nick Cave, Patti Smith and Jarvis Cocker.
Tickets go on sale to Southbank Centre members Tuesday, March 29. Tickets will be available to the general public Thursday, March 31.
Tickets for the “Ready Steady Go!” recreation will go on sale in April. The lineup for the event will be announced soon.
