Denver’s Rodney Smith Dies

Rodney Smith, 58, longtime Denver venue manager, died of an apparent heart attack March 27.

Smith ran the Denver Performing Arts Complex for 14 years before doing the same for the University of Denver’s events division.

He was also director of business development for the city’s Division of Theatre & Arenas.

Since 2009, Smith oversaw the transition of San Antonio’s Municipal Auditorium into the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, which is expected to open in 2013.
