BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend Lineup Announced
The festival takes place May 14-15 in Carlisle, Cumbria. The four-stage event features a mix of U.K. and international acts with performances from both household names and new artists.
Foo Fighters and The Black Eyed Peas are slotted for the main stage May 14 along with Tinie Tempah, Plan B, Nicole Scherzinger, Chase & Status, Ellie Goulding and Jessie J.
The “In New Music We Trust Stage” has lined up Swedish House Mafia for Saturday in addition to Friendly Fires, Nero, Panic! At The Disco, Wretch 32, Everything Everything, Cage The Elephant and The Joy Formidable.
On May 15 the main stage will feature Lady Gaga, My Chemical Romance, Bruno Mars, The Script, Taio Cruz, Katy B, Professor Green, Olly Murs and The Wombats.
The Strokes takes over the In New Music We Trust Stage on Sunday with help from Magnetic Man, Noah And The Whale, Devlin, Two Door Cinema Club, The Vaccines, Yasmin and Pulled Apart By Horses.
The lineup for “BBC Introducing Stage” will be announced on Thursday, followed by Friday’s announcement about the “Outdoor Stage” acts.
Although the event is free fans still need a ticket to get in. The majority of tickets will be given out through a ticket ballot. Registration opens Thursday, March 31. Fans are encouraged to tune in to Scott Mills on Radio 1 at 6:30 a.m. GMT tomorrow for more information.
The festival has 40,000 tickets to give out with 10,000 pairs of tickets given out for each day of the event. When registering for the event, fans must choose which day they would like to attend as the ticket is only good for one day. Fans can only apply for one of the two days. According to the festival website, last year nearly half a million people applied for tickets.
