The organization, which was founded in 1994, provides assistance to recording artists, club and session musicians, composers and songwriters suffering from illness, disability or age-related problems. The fund helps out with everything from housing and food costs to insurance premiums and medical treatment.

The California Desert Musicians Fund was established by Sweet Relief this year with a generous grant from Goldenvoice, which produces the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival and Stagecoach Country Music Festival. The producer has been working with charities in the Desert Valley area for over a decade.

The California Desert Musicians Fund will assist musicians living in the surrounding desert communities of the Coachella Valley and Joshua Tree.

Donors’ contributions to the desert fund will have twice the impact thanks to a matching grant from an anonymous philanthropist who lives in the region.

“Sweet Relief is grateful to be working with Goldenvoice and the Coachella and Stagecoach Festivals,” Sweet Relief Executive Director Rob Max said. “The California Desert Valley has long been home to a great artist’s community, and this fund will be a vital resource, now and in the future.”

Donations can be made through Sweet Relief’s website or by mailing a check to Sweet Relief Musicians Fund at 4952 Warner Ave., Suite 235 in Huntington Beach, CA 92649. Checks should be made out to Sweet Relief/CA Desert Musicians Fund.
