One Steep Smoke

A hotel in Uruguay could face an $11,000 fine for allegedly allowing Spanish singer Joaquin Sabina to smoke inside.

Sabina, who was in the country for a concert March 29, lit up a cigarette during a news conference at the Sheraton Hotel in Montevideo.

While many at the conference reportedly warned the singer of the country’s anti-smoking law, which prohibits lighting up in enclosed public spaces, he claimed he saw an ashtray and didn’t want to offend anyone by not using it.
