No Nateva Festival This Year

Nateva Music & Festival organizers have called off what would have been the second annual event in Oxford, Maine.

The festival was set to take place Aug. 4-7 at Oxford County Fairgrounds.

The lineup would have featured Thievery Corporation, STS9, Gregg Allman, Bob Weir, John Butler Trio, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Guster, Ghostland Observatory, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Keller Williams and Martin Sexton.

A statement explaining the cancellation was posted on the festival website.

Festival organizers blamed slow ticket sales, competition from other summer festivals, issues obtaining venue permits, and challenges in putting together the lineup.

“It is with a heavy heart, and a great sadness that we cancel the 2011 Nateva Music & Camping Festival. After an epic inaugural year, we have found ourselves struggling at every turn as we have tried to push forward with preparations for this summer. … In the end, it’s all about being able to put forth a first rate event that everyone can be proud of and that our customers can enjoy. We just don’t have the confidence to go forward at this time.”
