Avett Brothers Piano Goes Up For Auction On eBay

Fans can bid on a 100-year-old piano owned by Seth Avett of the North Carolina-based Avett Brothers.

The piano is to go up for auction Wednesday on the online site Ebay, with bids accepted until April 15. The winner won’t have to pay delivery charges for the piano, which Avett says is heard on several Avett Brothers albums, including Four Thieves Gone: The Robbinsville Sessions.

Proceeds will benefit the battered women’s shelter in Concord, N.C., managed by the Cabarrus Victims Assistance Network.

Avett warns that the piano isn’t a concert hall grand model but is more appropriate for country-gospel or saloon-type music. It comes with a handwritten letter of authenticity.
