Charlottesville To nTelos Pavilion

The Charlottesville Pavilion, built and run by über-manager Coran Capshaw’s operating company, has a new name: nTelos Wireless Pavilion.

If the name sounds familiar, it’s the same name given to a 6,500-capacity amphitheatre in Portsmouth, Va., just 170 miles down I-64 in another part of Virginia.

Even though the nTelos Wireless telcom is based somewhat locally, in Waynesville, Va., some Charlottesville city councilors were reportedly squeamish about the corporate sponsorship.

But terms of the city’s lease with Capshaw’s Charlottesville Pavilion LLC, allow the naming rights deal.

Terms of the naming rights deal were not disclosed.
