Barricade Collapse Spurs Suit

The father of a teenage girl who was allegedly injured at a concert during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver has filed suit against the city and Live Nation.

Gursewak Khera claims his daughter was attending a Feb. 16 Alexisonfire concert in Vancouver’s David Lam Park when a barricade broke, leading to the girl falling and being “trampled and dragged by other concert attendees,” according to court documents obtained by the Coquitlam Now.

The filing says the girl suffered injuries including torn skin, blistering and scarring, and claims Live Nation and the city were negligent in allowing “an excessive number of people to put load on the concert barrier,” which was in “dangerous and defective condition.” The filing claims the girl required skin-graft surgery to treat her injuries.

The suit seeks medical costs plus general and special damages, the paper said.
