Soundgarden Rides Again

Currently in the studio recording a new album, Soundgarden announces four shows for July with the promise of more to come.

The yet-unnamed new album is the band’s first studio effort since 1996’s Down On The Upside.

Rumors of a Soundgarden reunion began the first day of 2010 when singer Chris Cornell tweeted “Knights of the Soundtable ride again.” The band ended up doing a show at Seattle’s Showbox At The Market in April of that year as well as two August gigs in Chicago, playing the Vic Theatre Aug. 5 followed by a headlining spot at Lollapalooza Aug. 8.

Today’s tour announcement only lists four dates, but the band is promising more stops will be announced shortly. On the schedule is Toronto at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre July 2; Philadelphia at the Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing July 13; Morrison, Colo., near Denver at Red Rocks Amphitheatre July 18 and Los Angeles at The Forum July 22.
