Elton Returns To Caesars
Called “The Million Dollar Piano,” the show marks John’s second residency at the venue built for Celine Dion. Originally intended to encompass 75 shows over a three-year period, “The Red Piano” residency grew to 241 performances during five years, concluding in 2009.
“Caesars Palace is just a perfect, idyllic place to play, and the show will be a gargantuan feast of music and imagery,” John said. “I’m going to have a fabulous piano that Yamaha has been working on for four years, and that’s the reason why the show is called ‘The Million Dollar Piano.’”
Joining John on the new residency will be his band consisting of long-time associates Davey Johnstone on guitar and drummer Nigel Olsson along with bassist Bob Birch, keyboardist Kim Bullard and percussionist John Mahon. Word from Las Vegas is that percussionist Ray Cooper, whose recording and touring history with John stretches over four decades, will make a special appearance.
The initial run of “The Million Dollar Piano” begins Sept. 28 at The Colosseum and includes Sept. 30 and Oct. 1-2, 6-9, 13-15, 18-19 and 21-23. Prices range from $55 to $250. VIP tickets are also available. For more information, click here for Caesars Palace Internet HQ and here for Elton John’s website.
