It would probably be easier to mention which R&B recordings Coffey hasn’t appeared on during his 50-plus year career. His chops can be heard on such classic songs as “Ball Of Confusion” and “Psychedelic Shack” by The Temptations, “It’s Your Thing” by The Isley Brothers and The Supremes’ “Someday We’ll Be Together.”

Coffey will do a short run of dates in June in support of his new, self-titled album. Detroit funk band Will Sessions will be backing the master while new Waxpoetics Records artist Kendra Morris handles vocals.

The tour beings in West Hollywood at the Troubadour June 2. Two nights later Coffey appears on the East Coast, playing Brooklyn’s Bell House on a co-headline with the The DirtBombs. Coffey’s appearance in Allston, Mass., at the Brighton Music Hall June 5 is also a DirtBombs co-bill. Also scheduled are appearances in Philadelphia (June 7), Cleveland (June 8) and Chicago (June 9) before ending the road trip with a performance at the “Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival” near Manchester, Tenn., June 11.

Coffey also has a Toronto gig lined up – July 8 at the Horseshoe Tavern. For more information on Dennis Coffey and his upcoming tour, click here for the guitarist’s website.
