Stabbing In Winnipeg

Police are investigating a stabbing that happened during a fight at the Winnipeg Convention Center in Manitoba, Canada, April 26.

A fight broke out after a concert by a Dutch DJ, injuring a 20-year-old security guard, police told the Winnipeg Free Press.

A woman at the concert said a fight broke out after a girl stumbled into her friend near the bathrooms near the back of the venue. The situation escalated when men who knew both women entered the fray.

“It was an unprovoked attack … it was insane,” the witness told the Free Press. “This wasn’t normal; this wasn’t your typical catfight.”

The concert’s promoter said the show had 3,500 attendance. The promoter and venue CEO Klaus Lahr said there was an abundance of security – 50 guards and 10 off-duty police officers – and concertgoers went through a metal detector and were patted down if necessary.

Police at press time were searching for a 26-year-old man in relation to the stabbing, according to the paper.
A venue representative did not return a phone call at press time.
