Scheduled for July 10 at West Hollywood’s House Of Blues, “A Benefit For Cliff II” is all about Cliff Cultreri, the record company vet who is credited with discovering the guitarists when he was an artists and repertoire exec for Relativity Records. Cultreri is suffering from several auto-immune and connective-tissue disorders and the benefit is intended to financially help him and his family.

This isn’t the first time the two guitarists have played a benefit for their mutual good friend. In 2006 Satriani and Vai partnered for the first show helping Cultreri, hence the “II” on this year’s name.

“Cliff has been a musical force and guiding light in my career and my life for two decades,” Satriani said in a statement announcing the benefit. “He is a dear friend and musical ally and quite the guitar player himself. Steve and I wanted to help Cliff and the idea of a show in L.A. with other members of the guitar community seemed to be the obvious way to celebrate and help him.”
