Troubadour Strums Again

Five months after it closed because of leasing hassles, the Troubadour in Brisbane, Australia’s Fortitude Valley is reopening under a new name, Black Bear Lodge.

Owner Corinna Scanlon is keeping it as a day-long hangout for music fans and as a music venue for solo artists. Troubadour co-owner Jamie Trevaskis is not involved in this venture.

In the meantime, Bon Amici in inner city Toowoomba has changed hands. Michael and Shannon Cook, who set it up five years ago, sold it to a local businessman. They continue to promote at the Irish Club and Spotted Cow.

Also in Queensland, a committee was set up to draft a liquor accord for nightclubs in Townsville’s Flinders St. East strip. It will allow bouncers in clubs operating after midnight to communicate with each other to keep out drunk patrons thrown out of other venues that night.
