Help Keller Williams Help The South

In an effort to help those whose lives were thrown into turmoil by recent tornadoes that ravaged America’s southern states, musician extraordinaire Keller Williams is auctioning off a few cherished items, including something he likes to call “lil’ sexy.”

Among the items included in the auction going on now at the Mimi Fishman Foundation website is a VIP upgrade complete with golf cart ride. Summer Camp, set for May 27-29 in Chillicothe, Ill., is one of the many festivals the Virginia native performs at this year and the auction ups the action VIP style and throws in a 30-minute golf cart cruise with Williams in the driver’s seat. How’s that for a memorable experience?

A “Keller Williams Season Pass” is also available, giving the highest bidder and a companion free admission to every Williams headlining gig this year, excluding festival appearances.

But it’s “lil sexy” that is the auction’s crème de la crème, Williams’ Godin Multiac fretless guitar, which the artist warns is “not a cowboy chord guitar you sit back and strum tunes around the campfire.”

“It has nylon strings and sounds like a warm classical that’s being played with a slide except your fingers are doing the sliding as there are no frets,” Williams said in a description posted next to the instrument at the auction. “The fret lines are in place so it plays easily. With a fretless, you simply press the string on the fretline for the proper note to be in tune. It’s a guitar player’s guitar.”

As of 11 a.m. today PDT, the current top bid for “lil’ sexy” was $2,000.

Meanwhile, Williams’ touring schedule is keeping him busy. With dates ranging through March of next year when he plays Amsterdam’s at The Melkweg, Williams is mixing it up by playing festival dates as well as plenty of headlining performances. He’s also debuting his “Show For Kids” on “Kidzapalooza” stage Aug. 7. Williams’ first children’s album, Kids, was released in 2010.
