Scheduled for Sept. 8-10 at the Krannert Center on the University of Illinois At Urbana-Champaign campus, the festival will include performances by Calexico, My Brightest Diamond, Richard Thompson, Daniel Lanois’ Black Dub, Marc Ribot, Sharon Isbin, Taj Mahal, Carolina Chocolate Drops and Adrian Belew, to drop a few names.

Luther Dickinson, whose father was musician and record producer Jim Dickinson, is no stranger to the event that began life under with the moniker “Wall To Wall Guitar Festival.” While his 2007 appearance was all about the man and his axe, this time around Dickinson will read from his late father’s soon-to-be-published memoirs as well as perform with Alvin Youngblood Hart and Robert Randolph. Dickinson will also be involved with other yet to be announced programs during the festival.

“Luther Dickinson is a festival alum,” ELLNORA artistic advisor David Spelman said. “His electrifying 2007 performance with the North Mississippi Allstars included a surprise appearance by Jake Cinninger of Umphrey’s McGee and is one of those moments people are still talking about. As we began thinking about an artist-in-residence position, Luther was a natural choice. We’re over the moon that he accepted our invitation.”

Expect more information about Dickinson’s ELLNORA artist-in-residence gig to be announced June 15. Meanwhile, feast your eyes on the festival’s website by clicking here.
