Magid’s been tapped by InsideOut Sports + Entertainment to produce The Champions Series, a 12-city tour of professional tennis superstars over 30 including Andre Agassi, John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, Jim Courier, Michael Chang, Bjorn Borg and Mats Wilander.

A condition for being included in the tour is that a player must have been ranked No. 1 in the world or been a Grand Slam singles champion at least once.

“These players have achieved rock-star status and transcend the sport of tennis. They are the most talented and accomplished athletes of their generation as well as great entertainers,” Magid said in a statement. “Each Champions Series event will be a competitive show unlike anything before and we are excited to bring this property to sports and entertainment fans across the country.”

The Series will begin Sept. 22 at the Bank Atlantic Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and conclude Oct. 22, hitting Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Boston, Phoenix, Seattle, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, St. Louis and Buffalo, N.Y.

The collaboration comes just as Magid prepares to release a book of photographs and posters spanning his career of more than four decades of concert promotion. Not quite a memoir but more than a coffee-table pictorial, the book commemorates a colorful career and time.

Written by Magid with Robert Huber and scheduled to be released by Temple University Press this month, “My Soul’s Been Psychedelicized – Electric Factory: Four Decades In Posters and Photographs” includes a photographic history of not only Magid’s career but those of some of the biggest artists of the rock era.

The candid photographs and iconic posters include images of Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Bette Midler, Elvis Presley, Tina Turner and Pearl Jam – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Included are images from the 1960s through the 1985 Live Aid concert he produced in Philadelphia, and the closing of the Philadelphia Spectrum in 2009. Of course, there’s plenty of photographs chronicling the Electric Factory, which Magid founded in 1968, and other venues promoted by legendary promoter.

“My Soul’s Been Psychedelicized” runs 200 pages, includes 250 full color photos and will set you back a mere $39.50 for a cloth-covered edition covering a priceless time and place in the rock era.
