Mystic Lake Shed Tryout

A temporary amphitheatre is under construction at Mystic Lake Casino at Prior Lake, Minn., that could lead to a permanent facility if a summer concert series goes well.

Casino officials decided to build the temporary 8,357-capacity shed after a solid turnout for a July 4 Oak Ridge Boys concert at the casino’s parking lot last year, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

“Music is becoming one of our top brands,” said Bryan Prettyman, Mystic Casino VP of marketing. “Now is the time to do this.”

Prettyman said officials previously discussed building a 10,000-capacity amphitheatre but at the time didn’t think there would be enough of a draw to justify it.

Officials plan to host about six concerts for the outdoor series. The Beach Boys are scheduled to perform July 31.
No alcohol will be served at the amphitheatre in accordance with casino policy, the paper said.
