Jiffy Lube Live Backlash

The decision to drop tailgating before and after summer concerts at the 25,000-capacity Jiffy Lube Live amphitheatre in Bristow, Va., has some regular patrons miffed and they’re making their feelings known.

Some fans attending the May 21 WMZQ Fest featuring Jason Aldean, Eric Church and more were wearing T-shirts that said “R.I.P. Nissan Pavilion 1995-2010” – the venue’s previous name – on the front and on the back, “J.L.L. No Tailgating” with a slash mark through it, according to the News & Messenger.

Even those who don’t tailgate have a problem with the new policy, because of potential traffic snarls caused by fewer concertgoers arriving early to tailgate.

Facebook page “Boycott Jiffy Lube Live Tailgating Policy” had 7,102 “likes” and various opinions on the subject posted as of May 23.
Venue officials chose to ban tailgating to curb drunken driving incidents.
