The 25th anniversary Melbourne International Comedy Festival set a new attendance record – a total of more than 611,000 and paid attendance of more than 450,000.

The box office generated $12.1 million – an 11 percent rise on last year’s record.

The Australian festival included 364 shows and 5,156 performances by 961 performers in 124 venues. The average ticket price was $26.92.
