A Charitable Way To Buy Tickets
Founded in 1989 by The Recording Academy, MusiCares provides assistance for musicians and music-industry folks in need, ranging from financial and medical aid to help in times of personal emergencies.
Tickets-For-Charity works with acts wanting to make a difference by providing an environment where artists and bands can sell tickets with a portion of sales going to their favorite charities. The seats are often the best in the house and prices are lower than or equal to face value before tacking on a few dollars for charity plus applicable fees.
For example, Tickets-For-Charity is offering extremely good seats for Taylor Swift’s performance at Detroit’s Ford Field June 11. Starting with the $89.50 box office price, add $15 for MusiCares, toss in the $9.95 per ticket applicable fees and the final price is $114.45 per ticket.
But we need to point out that the single ticket scenario is merely an example. Because Tickets-For-Charity offers ducats in pairs, your final out-the-door price for Taylor in Detroit would be $228.90. Sure, you can buy tickets for similar seats (but not nearly as close to the stage) at a slightly lower final price via Ticketmaster, but your Tickets-For-Charity purchase benefits a good cause, enabling you to do something positive while at the same time getting the seats you want. Such a deal!
In addition to Swift, plenty of top-drawing acts are working with Tickets-For-Charity to benefit MusiCares, including James Taylor; Josh Groban; Ray LaMontagne; Tim McGraw; Darius Rucker; Doobie Brothers; Earth, Wind & Fire; Rascal Flatts; Owl City; and the “Glee Live! In Concert” tour.
“We’re honored to involve such a talented group of performing artists, representing multiple genres and generations, in this important campaign,” Recording Academy President/CEIO Neil Portnow said in a statement. “Funds raised through these tours on Tickets-For-Charity will help support MusiCares’ goal of raising $5 million to complete our historic $15 million campaign. These funds will enable MusiCares to reach more people in need, both those working behind the scenes and those who are in the spotlight of our vibrant music community.”
