The Kooks’ third studio album – Junk Of The Heart – drops Sept. 13 on Astralwerks Records. With recording split between The Sound Factory in Los Angeles and London’s Sarm Studios, the album was produced by Tony Hoffer, who has worked with Beck, Air and Belle & Sebastian.

“It’s upbeat; an album to play in the sun,” Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard said in a statement. “What we really wanted to do was build a proper, full album. Something you can listen to from front to back. We’re an album band and this is a journey you come on with us.”

Speaking of journeys, the band’s summer tour plans include stops at several European festivals June – August, including  Germany’s June 3 and June 4; in Herouville, France, July 3; the in Sesimbra, Portugal, July 14 and Austria’s Aug. 18.

Oh, and three June dates in the U.S. as the band books one for the east coast and two for the left.

Moving geographically from a left-to-right, The Kooks’ exclusive U.S. gigs are scheduled for San Francisco at Slim’s June 22; West Hollywood’s Troubadour June 23 and New York City’s Bowery Ballroom June 27.
