Church Buys Texas Shed
The former Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Selma, Texas, has a new purpose as the home of the River City Community Church.
River City officials hoped to buy the 20,000-capacity venue in 2009 after Live Nation sold it to Stream Realty. But financing fell through along with church official’s hopes.
Those plans became a reality May 19. The shed stayed on the market and River City officials obtained the financing needed to buy the venue and its 109 acres, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
The purchase price wasn’t revealed but Pastor Sean Azzaro told the paper it “came back for significantly less then the very good offer in 2009.”
Church fundraising materials listed the facility at about $6.5 million.
