Cristian Castro is touring in support of his latest album, Viva El Principe, recorded as a tribute to his own music hero, José José. Announcing the tour during a press conference at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre, Castro said his upcoming performances would include renditions of every song from the new album plus a collection of his hits, not an easy task when you consider his albums have sold more than 10 million copies.

Right now the list of dates in the lower 48 is a short one, beginning in Chicago at V Live July 28 and including McAllen, Texas, at Pharr Entertainment Center July 30; Houston at Arena Theatre July 31; Los Angeles at the Greek Theatre Aug. 5; San Jose at the Civic Aug. 6; San Diego at Copley Symphony Hall Aug. 7; Lake Buena Vista, Fla., near Orlando at House Of Blues Aug. 12; and Miami at The Fillmore at Jackie Gleason Theatre Aug. 13.

Castro is also booked for Puerto Rico, playing San Juan’s Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferre Aug. 19.

Tickets for most shows went on sale today. For more information, click here for Castro’s label website, here for his Facebook home and here for his MySpace page.
