Duncan Sheik Postpones East Coast Dates

Eastern seaboard Duncan Sheik fans are plain out of luck this week. The singer/songwriter was scheduled to launch his tour tonight in New York City but has postponed his East Coast shows until further notice.

As to why the shows are postponed, well, that depends on the source.

The Wall Street Journal blog Speakeasy quotes a Sheik representative as saying the artist postponed the shows so that he could seek treatment for an “alcohol-related addiction.”

However, a message on Sheik’s website says the postponements are due to “unforeseen circumstances” and doesn’t offer any further information.

Regardless of the reason, tonight’s NYC gig at the Highline Ballroom has been postponed along with Sheik’s Boston gig at the Brighton Music Hall scheduled for June 9; his Alexandria, Va., performance at the Birchmere planned for June 11 and his Philadelphia appearance at World Café Live June 12.
