Gaga Learning India

Lady Gaga is the latest Western pop singer to strike a deal with Desi Hits, an India-based music promoter that helps artists connect with influential producers and DJs through its website.

It also explains the niceties of the Indian market to Western artists and their management companies.

Because Indian pop music is driven primarily by the film industry, it is difficult for outsiders to find a footing on the subcontinent.

Desi Hits co-founder Anjula Acharia-Bath is reportedly arranging for Gaga’s latest hit, “Born This Way,” to be remixed by two sets of well-known Bollywood producers.

Desihits.com attracts about 1.5 million unique visitors per month and reaches an audience of about 20 million through links across the web. Other Western pop stars who have availed themselves of its services are Britney Spears, 50 Cent, Akon and Enrique Iglesias.
