Called “Bonnaroo (Feel The Magic),” the tune came into this world after the Del McCoury Band’s bus crapped out at 3 a.m. on a snowy Chicago morn, forcing the bus carrying the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to turn around and pick up the stranded musicians.

“Once aboard the bus, Ronnie McCoury presented the idea that the two groups work together to create an original Bonnaroo theme song in celebration of the 10th year anniversary,” Preservation Hall’s tuba player/creative director Ben Jaffe said in a statement.

“The melody and lyrics came to Preservation Hall vocalist Clint Maedgen as if the song had already been written. An hour later, the first version of it was recorded on an iPhone and this video was recorded backstage the following night.”

Bonnaroo promoters Superfly Presents and AC Entertainment say the above version won’t be the only rendition of the Bonnaroo theme and that producer Mannie Fresh (Lil Wayne, Juvenile) is working on a hip-hop remix. Meanwhile, the official studio version is available on iTunes. Just click here.
