IAVM Announces Excellence Awards

The Venue Excellence Awards will be presented at this year’s VenueConnect, the annual conference and trade show presented by the International Association of Venue Managers in Phoenix July 25.

The awards recognize excellence in management and operation of public assembly venues.

The excellence award for arenas goes to BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., Vancouver Convention Center in British Columbia gets the convention center award and Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, S.D., wins the PAC award.

Safeco Field in Seattle will receive the excellence award for stadiums, and Colonial Life Arena, on the campus of University of South Carolina in Columbia, gets the award for venue education.

The venues were assessed on four criteria: service to the community; team building/professional development; safety and security; and operational excellence.

“These awards were created to recognize outstanding venues,” IAVM Chairman John Siehl said. “The venues that have been chosen this year have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation and unsurpassed commitment of the highest standards within our industry.”
