Introducing The RXP TakLiberty Festival

Coldplay has added its third 2011 U.S. festival gig to its touring roster with a headline appearance at the inaugural .

In addition to RXP TakLiberty, Coldplay’s upcoming U.S. festival stops include in Chicago (Aug. 5) as well as in Texas (Sept. 16).

RXP TakLiberty Festival takes place Sept. 18 in Holmdel, N.J., at PNC Bank Arts Center. The event marks the first multi-stage festival for New York radio station WRXP (Rock 101.9 RXP).

“We wanted our first big festival to honor our listeners and offer the Tri-State a music festival that featured one of the biggest bands on the planet as well as the best of the new and local acts,” WRXP program director and midday host Leslie Fram said in a statement. “We are truly honored to have Coldplay headline the RXP TakLiberty Festival.”

The festival’s lineup includes The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft, Two Door Cinema Club, The Kooks, Graffiti6, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart and more.

In addition to two stages of non-stop music, the event will also feature a vendor village where fans can interact with sponsors, sample products, win prizes, meet the artists and more.

A presale for members of the station’s free Rock Republic online program is set for June 21 through June 23.

Tickets go on sale to the general public June 24.
