AC Hip-Hop Fest A Go

Plans to host a July 2 hip-hop festival in Atlantic City, N.J., are on track now that promoters have secured event insurance, submitted a security plan and the city council is on board.

The Atlantic City Council approved a contract June 20 with Brace Entertainment and Angel Rock to host the first Atlantic City Summer Fest at the 5,500-capacity Sandcastle Stadium, according to the Press Of Atlantic City.

The venue, previously known as Bernie Robbins Stadium, has been idle since its previous tenant, Independent Atlantic League baseball team Atlantic City Surf, moved out.

The promoters’ attempt to secure insurance was reportedly stymied when the carrier said Sandcastle Stadium was considered abandoned. The Public Works Department supplied the needed paperwork to show the venue is eligible for occupancy and the event moved forward, the paper said.

Featured on the bill are Rick Ross, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones, Meek Millz and many others.
